Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What is Escape Maze?
Escape Maze is a family-run adventure destination offering immersive escape rooms, laser tag, disc golf, and special events in a fun rural setting. Whether you’re solving puzzles, tagging friends, or throwing discs through the forest, it’s all about exploring, playing, and connecting.
Where are you located?
We’re located in rural Peterborough, about 15 minutes south of the city proper. You’ll find full directions, parking info, and a map on our website’s contact page.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, advance booking is strongly recommended. This guarantees your spot and helps us prepare your experience. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows, but availability isn’t guaranteed — in fact, we might not even be open at all if you try to just show up!
How early should we arrive?
Please arrive about 10–15 minutes early to check in, use the washroom, and get settled before your experience begins.
What if we’re running late?
Late arrivals may have their experience shortened or, in some cases, may not be able to play at all if it affects other bookings. If you’re running late, call us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help.
What should we wear?
Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. For outdoor activities like disc golf or some events, dress for the weather and for walking on uneven ground.
Escape Room Questions
What is an escape room?
An escape room is a live, interactive puzzle adventure. Your team works together to solve clues, crack codes, and complete the story objective before time runs out.
Are your escape rooms scary?
Most of our rooms are adventure-themed, not horror. Some rooms may have suspense or story tension, but we don’t aim for jump scares. If you’re unsure, check the room description or ask us before booking.
How many people can play in one room?
Each room has a recommended minimum and maximum group size listed on the booking page. Smaller groups can play, but more players usually means more brainpower and more fun. You may need to call us if your group is smaller than recommended.
Do we get locked in?
Nope. You’re never actually locked in. You can leave the room at any time if needed.
What ages can play?
Most escape rooms are great for teens and adults. Younger players are welcome with adults, and we’re happy to recommend the most family-friendly rooms. Players under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. We do not recommend players from age 3-6 as they’re tough to supervise, but welcome babes in arms at all times!
What if we don’t finish in time?
That’s okay. The goal is to have fun. Your Game Master can walk you through the remaining puzzles and story at the end, if time allows. We also provide hints and nudges along the way, so success is possible for anyone.
Laser Tag Questions
What is your laser tag like?
Our laser tag is an active, high-energy game where players compete in teams or free-for-all matches using safe, infrared taggers. It’s fast, fun, and great for groups.
Is laser tag safe?
Yes. Our equipment uses infrared light (not lasers), and games are supervised. We go over safety rules before every session.
What ages can play laser tag?
Laser tag is great for kids, teens, and adults. We recommend players be comfortable running, turning, and following game rules. Those under the age of 7 might find handling the laser tag equipment challenging, just due to their size.
What should we wear for laser tag?
Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Players will not be permitted to participate without closed-toed shoes. Our laser tag arena is partially covered, but open to the elements, so dress for the weather!
Disc Golf Questions
What is disc golf?
Disc golf is like golf, but you throw flying discs instead of hitting balls. The goal is to get your disc into each basket in as few throws as possible.
Do I need my own discs?
You’re welcome to bring your own, but we also offer discs for purchase and sometimes for rent, depending on availability.
Is the course suitable for beginners?
Yes. Our course offers a mix of challenge and fun, and beginners are very welcome. We’re happy to give tips before you start.
How long does a round take?
A round can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, depending on your group size and pace.
